Aunt Angelina's Teeth by George Vendura

Carlisle Cultural Council

Aunt Angelina's Teeth is a chapter from a larger manuscript, Bronxcapades. This later work, set in the ‘60s, is an embellished coming-of-age memoir that can just as well be categorized as pure fiction. The conflict is about Georgio growing up and breaking away from a loving, but quirky and sometimes oppressive Italian-American family in a strange land called the Bronx. The tone is definitely comical and heartwarming. At the same time it is also poignant, philosophical and bittersweet.
